i heard they have a nasty smell but that they don't taste like they smell. rinse them and toss them in boiling water. hopefully the smell goes away. or drench them in sauce or something. if they still smell after that, forget it. i can't eat food for another 2 weeks so if anyone out there wants to try them, let me know how they taste.
I made them once and ate them when someone else cooked them a couple of times. They're really not bad. You have to rinse them VERY well, and I also heard the hint of tossing them in a hot frying pan with just a touch of oil/nonstick spray for a few minutes to really dry them and get rid of the "slimy" feel. They're rather chewy, but for like 5% of the calories in real pasta, it's a great calorie bargain.
good to know steph. knowing me i probably will be disappointed with them. but i'm gonna try them anyway. in a pinch when you crave a pasta dish, it would be great. or using them like ramen in a soup.
I haven't, but I want to! Where do you find them?
ReplyDeletei have no idea. i'm guessing asian markets?
ReplyDeleteI tried them once...I was not a fan. To me, they smelled like radiator fluid. Blech.
