Welcome to the babble!

Warning: I talk a lot! About anything and everything. I don't hold back. So buckle up.

in 2010 I got the gastric sleeve and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My new life has finally begun!

Finally in 2012 I got my life's wish of being pregnant. Now this blog has transitioned from random blabber, to weight loss, to being a new mommy.
It's ever changing and ever evolving, just like me.

Despite getting stuck, It was a good night

Tonight it was cold for Miami. In the 60s. So I took advantage. We live in Coral Gables right near Miracle Mile, which is this strip of like 5 blocks filled with fancy shops (many upscale bridal boutiques) and restaurants. I've never walked there before because it was always too much of a walk for me. Its about 4 city blocks away, then the mile itself is about 5 city blocks. Well tonight we went for it.

We walked to the mile, walked all the way to the end of the mile and saw the big Christmas tree at the end in front of City Hall

Then I was starving so we went back down the mile till we finally decided on this Mediterranean place with outside seating. It was lovely

We ordered Falafel to start. I had one. Then we had this fabulous salad with meat on the side

Well let me tell you. I was so excited and hungry. I had one piece of cucumber, a bite of feta, a slice of onion, and an olive. So delicious. Now I don't know if it was because I ate them too fast and didn't chew well enough or if the raw onion was the problem (they've given me trouble before), but I got stuck. REAL BAD. Painful. Saliva was filling my mouth, my nose was running, pain in my esophagus. It lasted like 30 min. There's just nothing you can do when that happens but wait. My husband ended up eating the entire dish. Which I was fine with. I'm glad we shared one plate.

So that kind of sucked. But I walked all the way back home and didn't break a sweat. It was like nothing! I could have walked more! On the way hope we stopped at a cuban place by our apt and got a sandwich. I'm sure I'll get hungry at some point tonight. But right now (its been like 2 hours) I'm still not hungry. I'll probably only eat 1/4 of the sandwich but thats ok.

I'm just so damn proud of myself!! I would never have been able to walk that much before. I hated walking. I would get so winded and my feet would hurt. It was awful. There was so many things we couldn't do together because I didn't like to walk so we couldn't explore. Now that I can walk a lot easier and have tons more stamina (and now that I'm cool with walking after a meal which i would never do before) my hubby and I can go more places and explore more.

  3. Good for you Meli! I hope you were able to eat something without event later when you got home. My stepsister used to live in Coral Gables so I know Miracle Mile well and now she lives on Lighthouse Point I think.

  4. How wonderful! Your progress is just awesome to watch. We'll have to get together again one of these days. Have you tried sushi since surgery yet? :-)

  5. Thanks girls. Even though I got stuck, it didn't ruin the night for me at all. @Jaquie I had 1/4 of the sandwich later that night.

@Steph Thanks!! Yes we totally do. You know I went to a sushi place once but I got some tuna tataki thing. Eh it was ok. I miss eating rolls but I've avoided rice since surgery. I'm tempted to try a roll but I'm scared as shit that it'll get stuck.
