Vitamin E

My cousin, who lost like 60lbs using Xenical like 10yrs ago and has managed to keep it off, was telling me that he didn't have any plastic surgery to fix hanging skin. Of course he was a teenager when he lost the weight. He told me to use plenty of vitamin E.

I don't want to take pills because I'm already on Metformin and Vitamin D. Plus I'm gonna have to be taking a multi vitamin, vitamin B12, something for my gallbladder and whatever else they put me on. So I don't need to worry about taking another pill. So I found this. You can apply it to your skin directly or you can put it in your drink. I think thats pretty doable. I want to take as much care of my skin as possible.

Has anyone taken vitamin E? Does it work? Also I'm looking for something I can take for stronger hair and nails. Any suggestions?

  1. Vitamin E oil or any plant based oil, like jojoba or coconut oil is wonderful for your skin. And hair, for that matter. :D

Whether or not you end up with sagging skin has a lot to do with genetics, age, amount of weight lost, whether you exercise and so forth. Vitamin E oil won't prevent sagging skin, post weight loss but it certainly can't hurt to use it. Your skin will be softer, smoother and in better overall condition. Which is a good thing. Especially if you decide to have surgery to correct it, later.

The best way to nourish your hair is protein and other nutrients, preferably through diet. Taking a good multi can help. But there are no real "hair vitamins". Biotin is thought to help strengthen the hair's matrix when growing from the follicle but it doesn't make your hair grow any faster. Weight loss causes hair fall (or shedding) for most people. When you restrict calories and change your eating habits, the body shuttles more nutrients to your vital body functions and structures and things like skin and hair suffer for it. I am shedding a bit more, thanks to eating fewer calories than I used to. I am hoping that it is beginning to level off, tho.

Biotin is fabulous for nails. It takes time to see the results, you have to grow out the old mail material before you see the difference. But Biotin makes my nails thicker, stronger and more resilient. Good stuff. :D

  2. I apply vitamin E to my scars. I can't say if they have faded or not.

As far as hair and nails go, I think pre-natal vitimins are the best.
