Welcome to the babble!

Warning: I talk a lot! About anything and everything. I don't hold back. So buckle up.

in 2010 I got the gastric sleeve and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My new life has finally begun!

Finally in 2012 I got my life's wish of being pregnant. Now this blog has transitioned from random blabber, to weight loss, to being a new mommy.
It's ever changing and ever evolving, just like me.

2 big challenges

i've been trying to practice my new way of eating for when i get surgery.

i find that i inhale my food. i don't know why. its like i can't help but chew super fast. like i'm so hungry i can't wait. don't know if its because i wait too long to eat and i'm really hungry or if i love the taste or why i do it that way. but i do. so i've been trying to chew slowly and for a long time but i'm struggling with this one. it will take some practice for sure.

the 2nd challenge and this one will probably be the hardest for me to adjust to. and that is not drinking when i eat. i get so thirsty when i eat. and imagine, i'll be eating lots of meat. having to wait like 45 minutes after i eat to drink...man i'm getting thirsty just thinking about it now. and then i'll be so thirsty i'll wanna gulp it. i love to chug water. the sipping thing will take practice just like the chewing. but the not drinking while you eat? oooof. thats gonna be a major challenge. i'll get used to it eventually i'm sure. but oof. its gonna be hard.

have you guys had any issues with these things??

  1. Hello, i've just found your blog!

I find not drinking when eating ok, but I did really struggle, think that its just in my head as when I don't have a drink by me i'm not that bothered about drinking. Hope that that makes sense?
I can still gulp water to some degree, it just takes slightly longer to go down. I'm not quite at restriction yet though.

Going to go and read the rest of your blog now, your weightloss looks good so far.

  2. Hi Alison,

Thanks for the comment! :) And thanks for the input. Its nice to know you get used to it.

I actually haven't gotten WLS yet. I found out I had PCOS last year and I went on a diet and lost about 25lbs and thats all i was able to lose. I gained some back since then but maintaining around 20lbs. so that ticker is old. but thank you :)

  3. Please everyone in my family eats that way except jesse
i think it's the way we were taught to eat. And don't forget that we also have to clean the plate! I've tried to change but it is so hard to be that conscious all the time.and now we the baby it is even worse because we have no time that nelson and I are swallowing our food.

  4. Not drinking while eating isn't too hard for me. Sometimes I'd love nothing more than to do so, but I know it clears my pouch out faster so I deal with it. My doctor doesn't want me drink 1/2 hour before or after. I drink up until I take my first bite to avoid that parched feeling during the meal.

As for eating fast, I find that I still do it. I find that eating out of smaller containers/plates and with smaller utensils really does help. I used to count how many chews I took, but I've stopped now that I know what food feels like that's really chewed well.

    Hope this helps!

  5. I hear you on the chewing.....I am practicing now as well and it is hard! I suppose those once you have your first not chewing well experience it will motivate you to chew a little better. That's my theory at least. :b
