Omg you guys. I have a family trip planned for Disney in October and it JUST dawned on me. Last time i went to disney was in 2006 for my honeymoon. I remember being MORTIFIED because I couldn't fit through the turnstiles. It was probably one of the most humiliating and shameful experiences I can remember. No one wants to feel that way on their honeymoon. The embarrassment turned to anger. Disney is huge. They make TONS of money of millions of people each year. I've looked around and ALOT of these people are fatties like me. So WTF Disney?? grr. that made me mad. you make the rides big enough but not the turnstiles? Not cool. Not cool at all. :\
So I realize I'm about 10lbs heavier now than I was then (of course i ballooned to almost 40lbs heavier but brought it down over the last couple of years). So now i'm like...fuck. Is it possible things changed in the last 4 years? did enough people complain? If i can have surgery in late august/early sept like i wanted to, i wonder if i can lose like 10-15 lbs by october. fat chance probably. lol. if i'm lucky i'll be just the same size i was last time i went. and what will that get me? grr.
anyone else go to disney lately? anyone have trouble with turnstiles?

love the blog! my surgery is in oct! cant wait...! i am avoiding disney currently. i have 2 sons who would love it. im dreading it... hope your trip is fun!
ReplyDeleteYou may not lose much before your surgery, but most people lose quite a bit between the pre-op and post-op diet. If your trip is a month or so after surgery, I wouldn't be surprised if you were down 20 lbs. in that time. I lost 10 lbs. in one week on liquids the week after surgery. In the first month, I lost about 26 lbs.
ReplyDeleteI was at Disneyland in 2004 and weighed about 250 at the time. I didn't have any trouble with turnstyles or fitting on the rides.
thanks maybe :)
ReplyDeleteamanda,
yeah thats what i was hoping for. i'm trying to plan the trip so that i'm just starting solids. i'd hate to go to disney and being on food restrictions. that would be a nightmare. so i'm hoping that after the post op diet i'll get a little boost. 20lbs would be good. i think i would be ok to get through the park. but i have to admit i'm kind of nervous about going to disney so soon after surgery. especially after being on a post op diet i might get too tempted. :(
we have a disney timeshare, so there pretty often... honestly, I haven't ever had an issue - they seem to be pretty reasonable with folks - even at my heaviest (280) I was able to make it work there... good luck!
ReplyDeleteYOU SO CAN LOSE 10- 15 POUNDS! You can do anything you set your pretty little mind on! Start realizing it now!!!!
