I'm now on this new house kick. Like...finding a house. I'm actually watching HGTV. This is sooo weird to me because I would never ever watch those shows. Not even trading spaces or anything like that. UGH I found them sooo boring. But now I watch shows like Property Virgins where people are buying their first homes. I can live vicariously through them and also learn what goes into getting a house. It also helps me look at the big picture. It doesn't have to be perfect.
Last night, in my sleep, I began to think about..ok..whats my design style? If I could design my house and money was no object, how would I do it. I'm having a hard time with that because its so overwhelming to me. I've never designed any of my living quarters. I've just always lived in the space given to me. I had my knick knacks or my pictures and such but to decorate an entire room...thats like wow. That's big.
And whats worse is that ed is a boxes for furniture type of guy. He'll live with box furniture and be perfectly happy. So he's no help to me. The most I can ask from him is to not stand in my way because I know that if I do a good job in decorating our future home, he'll be happy to live in it. He, like everyone else, feels great being in a nicely decorated and well kept place,he just doesn't know anything about how to make it that way. I'm trying to come up with a game plan. So that when that day comes I won't be so overwhelmed. To me its like....wow..I can't imagine spending all this money on all this accent furniture thats just for looks. Like things on the wall or bowls with pebbles in it, that sort of thing. But its part of the big picture. I think I will need help from people with a knack for that sort of thing. Maybe my cousin Juani.
The thing I know for sure is that I want to paint the walls. I'm SO SICK of white walls! ugh! It's been, going back to college, 7 yrs of white walls and I'm fucking sick of it. Painted walls make the place look so much warmer. Maybe a light tan color. It would look great with my chocolate couch and my curtains. I plan on getting another brown leather couch ,a love seat, to accompany this one. I think my taste is modern but....I don't know the design terms. lol. but..i'll say this. Not huge ornate chunky pieces, not ultra modern ikea type stuff thats light and thin, but somewhere in the middle. I actually just looked up a Home Decor site that tells you all the diff design styles so I'm gonna go do my homework.
*Update*
Upon looking through all the styles I think the one closest to my style is Transitional style. Here's what the site says about it:
"Transitional style is a marriage of traditional and contemporary furniture, finishes, materials and fabrics equating to a classic, timeless design. Furniture lines are simple yet sophisticated featuring either straight lines or rounded profiles. Fabric can range from graphic patterns on overstuffed sofas to textured chenilles on sleek wood frames."

Last night's dinner was soooo good!!
SALMON, SWEET POTATOES, ASPARAGUS WITH TOASTED ALMONDS
Ok well I made the potatoes just like before and they came out great!

Then there's the salmon. I skinned the salmon and added the special seasoning but this time I did something different. You know how when you eat salmon the bottom is like...brown and fatty? I don't like the texture. I have this thing about textures. So this time I decided to get those Pretzel/Crackers (from Keeber, soo good) and crumble them. I added some olive oil to the crumbs and coated the bottom of the salmon. So there were crumbs on the bottom and seasoning on the top. Then I popped it in the oven. It came out great! I was afraid the crumbs would be soggy because they were at the bottom but no they came out crunchy!

I was so excited to see that there was leftover asparagus from when Ed made me dinner. What a perfect compliment to this meal! yay! I asked ed how he made them, because they came out so good. He told me to marinade them in olive oil, lemon juice and lemon pepper. Which I did.

Then I toasted some sliced almonds. This really brings out the flavor. They're so delicious. If you haven't tried it, you really must. They go great with green beans by the way.

Then I sauteed the asparagus.

It came out wonderful! Check it out!

Look at the crunchy bottom...

Didn't these pics come out great? I recently realized that my camera has a "food" setting!! can you believe it? It's awesome!!

Anniversary Weekend
For our anniversary this year (9yrs total, 2 yrs married) I surprised Ed with tickets to a Miami Heat game. Well we almost didn't make it because he was late. But we made it. It was fun. The night ended badly because our friend ralf came over and he and ed stayed up talking all night and ignored me. Which caused a huge fight. But before that was good. Here are the pics.
On Saturday...more fighting. It was rough. But instead of just letting me stay mad Ed did something to try and make it better. I took a nap and he, with a virus and everything, went out driving in the rain and bought a bunch of groceries to make me a nice dinner. Can you believe that? This is a guy who can't even cook for himself. The fact that he went through all this trouble for me means a lot. It shows an effort that I really appreciate. And I'll always remember this lovely memory.
Here's the pics from that.

Political Rant
This is what upsets me about people. They don't want to pay out of their own pocket for universal healthcare. Its such a republican mentality. Yeah ok fine it will come out of your check, but it will come out of all our checks. We're all taking care of each other. And when something happens to you and you don't have a job, or regular insurance doesn't cover it you'll be grateful for universal healthcare. But people only care when things happen to them. Then they hope others will help them out. People are so selfish!
We all deserve healthcare regardless of age, weight, health, etc. Can't we learn anything from other countries? No we're like an immature teenager who thinks we know everything. We're a shoot first ask questions later society. The gap between the very rich and the very poor is huge. We live in a country where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and forgotten and left to die. Meanwhile the middle class struggles to stay afloat. And every asshole wants to get rich quick. Meanwhile the people getting rich are the big corporations like Insurance companies. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
People open your eyes! Read a newspaper! Look a the BIG picture.

So today is our 9yr dating anniversary right?
Well Ed came home and surprised me with chicken mcnuggets! How cute is that?!! The man knows the way to my heart what can I say? lol but for real it was such a surprise! It was such a sweet gesture. Little things like that melt me. The fact that he thought of me makes me feel all gushy inside.
Thank you baby! Happy Anniversary!

A good day
Today is my 9 yr anniversary with Ed.
Today I woke up early and went to the gym with Jenny. We did 30 min of cardio and like 5-10 min of resistance machines. Then we went in the pool for 45 min or so. It was reeeaally nice and refreshing. I also did some aerobics in the pool.
Then we came up here and had a nice yummy light lunch. i feel great!

Salmon and Sweet potato fries
this is a new one
i often have dreams about babies. thats no surprise. but this time i actually had a dream that i gave birth to a baby girl. the birth wasn't bad. it felt no worse than the soreness and swollen-ness of sex. i felt really close to the baby because it came out of me.
but that was it. the dream really concentrated on the birth.

feelin' good
been feeling good. only been drinking water the past 2 1/2 days and i feel better already. last night i had a little burning in my chest like heart burn. it started on the left then crept to the right but it wasn't that bubble like before. it went away so i didn't feel the need to take anything.
i feel good. like...not super full all the time. my stomach doesn't feel so tight anymore. even after a meal.

Baby Talk and more
I'm on this new kick now where I'm looking at cribs online. lol. i'm thinking about a nursery. we live in a one bedroom apt right now. i'm hoping we'll have time to get a bigger place when i get pregnant. like...we'll have 9 months to find a place. hopefully it won't be right when we sign a lease. a year lease is such a commitment.
now i'm thinking about "green" cleaning products. i want to have the safest things for my kids. and help the environment. i'll admit, i'm not even gonna lie, if its between getting what is conveniently available and going out of my way to get the "green" stuff i'll get the non green stuff. they just need to make it more readily available. if they have the"green" stuff at the store next to the chemical stuff, i'll pick the "green" stuff. but if i have to go to some special website to get it, not only is it inconvenient its probably expensive.
really the only thing holding me back right now is my weight. i refuse to get pregnant at this weight. now that i'm not working i need to really get on the ball. this stomach fiasco is forcing me to get back on track. i've been eating like shit lately and i need to detox. my face is all broken out too. i bought bottled water. i don't know about you but i hate drinking water. but i bought the little mini 8oz bottles. which is perfect because it makes me think oh thats not that much water. i can do that. and i've been very careful about what i put in my mouth the last 2 days. my stomach is still sensitive. i have all kinds of crap here from my in-laws' visit. chips, ice cream, chocolate, cheesecake. but i haven't eaten it and i don't wanna eat it. my poor tummy.
i also went to he gym today to show my cousin what it looked like and saw that my machine was fixed. so i have mental plans to go in there this week. let's hope i keep to that. although maybe not if my tummy is too sensitive.
so my plan this week is this. drink more water. don't eat out. work out in some way. i don't think thats unrealistic.
and now i'm off to watch 2 new episodes of jon and kate plus 8! yay!

i no feel so good
ok well last night we went to cheesecake factory with the family. they've never been there. when we got there ed and james, they had been holding a table for us, had a huge plate of nachos sitting there. this was an appetizer? it was the size of a baby. so we munched on that. i ordered a pina colada. then by the time we got around to ordering dinner most of us were full or not hungry. but we ordered anyway. i hardly ate my food. i figured i would just bring home some leftovers. still every bite was just pushing it further and further. then i ordered a slice of cheesecake to go because you know you can't leave the cheesecake factory without some monkey doodle cheesecake. so we get home. everyone is full. and tired. but i get the need, as i often do after dinner, to have something sweet. so i had some of my cheesecake. bad idea. i felt really bad after that. my tummy was a rumblin'. and the worst kind of rumblin'. its like this big gas bubble in your chest that is painful and pushing on organs. and you wanna burp or fart or something just to get some relief but nothing comes out. you try to go to the bathroom but nothing comes out. its soooo uncomfortable and actually painful. i couldn't sleep. the pain was relentless. i had to take 2 imodium (thank god i bought a new box) and thankfully that helped me go to sleep.
but i woke up around 8am feeling the pain again. i guess the imodium had worn off. so i get my tired ass out of bed to take 1 more pill (you can only have 4 in a 24 hour period so i was just gonna take one) but i stopped in the bathroom first to see if i could get any relief the natural way. it makes your body think you can just push it out. if i could only expel some gas i could get some relief but alas my efforts proved to be fruitless. its morning so i have that morning breath thing happening and i decide to brush my teeth. now, i have a bad gag reflex so usually when i brush my tongue i end up gagging. however this time i gagged and *bloop* i totally threw up? wanna see a picture? thats gross dude. i wouldn't take a picture of that. you're gross for wanting to see that. anyway, yeah so that was unexpected because i like never throw up. even when i get really nauseous (which is pretty often) i never throw up. luckily it was in the sink. of course i felt really gross after this and had to brush my teeth again. i had to be really careful not to throw up again. one more gag and the whole thing could blow. but no, i kept it together. and you know what???? THE PAIN WENT AWAY! i didn't even have to take that imodium!
my poor body. it needed to release something. and it did. and hopefully thats it. i'm kinda glad it went up rather than down because when you're sharing a bathroom with 7 ppl (we have a family of 5 staying with us this weekend) the last thing you want is to have diarrhea. well thats my story. i just had to share that with someone.

This weekend
My brother-in-law and his family are staying with us this weekend because their oldest son, Nathaniel, will be performing at Calle Ocho. Is that cool or what? He was asked to join a boy/girl band. 2 girls and 2 boys. This could mean big things. This COULD mean that they have to move to Miami. That would be awesome! for me anyway. lol. I would get to see them a lot more often AND I wouldn't have to go to Ft Meyers all the time. lol. now i just have to move his other brother down and we can all be a big happy family in miami.
