Welcome to the babble!

Warning: I talk a lot! About anything and everything. I don't hold back. So buckle up.

in 2010 I got the gastric sleeve and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My new life has finally begun!

Finally in 2012 I got my life's wish of being pregnant. Now this blog has transitioned from random blabber, to weight loss, to being a new mommy.
It's ever changing and ever evolving, just like me.

Katy Perry on The View

I've never seen something like this before.

Katy Perry sang her hit "I kissed a girl" on The View today. And the women in the audience went CRAZY for her. They looked at her like they were in love with her. And at times she would reach out and touch the women in the audience and sing to them. If you sing a song called "I kissed a girl" you have 2 ways you could handle it when singing to a bunch of women. A. feel awkward about it. B. totally milk it and flirt your ass off. She chose the latter.

I just thought it was HILARIOUS to see these soccer moms getting giddy about their bi curiosity. When I was in high school being bisexual was all the rage. It used to be a college thing but girls are getting younger and younger. Now its probably like middle school girls kissing to get a guy's attention. But anyway its a young girl thing. But to see all these older women, most married with children and some even older, getting their bi on. You know when they drop their kids off at the soccer game they're checking out the other moms. LOL.

No but the best part was when Elizabeth and Sherri did the post interview with her on stage. Elizabeth asks her about her controversial songs. Like how "You're so gay" could be seen as homophobic. But if you listen to the lyrics she says "you're so gay but you don't even like boys". Its about metorsexual guys. Last I checked the metros were fair play. And of course the controversy of "I kissed a girl" which is that it might make young girls experiment. Wow. Well I say if her song is causing girls to experiment then, A. girls are stupid and B. she must have super powers. She should do a song about eating healthy and exercising. Or maybe world peace! We need to harness this power for good.

/end rant.

Disclaimer: I'm not against bisexuality or experimentation by any means. I just think its completely lame when girls do it to be trendy. Or to get attention from guys. And sadly thats why most of these girls do it or say they do it. To get attention from boys. I also think its completely unfair how "hip" it is for girls to be bisexual or bicurious and yet for a guy its completely unacceptable. Girls kissing other girls = hot. Guys kissing other guys = gay. Do you see the double standard?

Creative Explosion

umm hi...imovie? Garage band? yes please. I'm all of a sudden producing videos with music beds and sound fx. Not only that but I'm producing my own audio and making my own songs and beats. what?? I know. Anyone with a mac can do this. But for someone with production experience its like a kid in a candy store. I mean there's soooo much I can do before I start repeating myself. It really looks like an endless supply of fun. The audio especially. The video fx are limited which is unfortunate but I can still work with it.

So yeah I'm even a little overwhelmed. Where do I begin? And beginning is not the problem. I find myself starting things and being too overwhelmed to finish. Focusing and finishing is hard for me. I'm all over the place.

But yeah. Its exciting. I feel like I finally have the tools to make something happen. Knowing me though, i'll get bored and never do anything with it. lol. i'm awful. but now i have no excuse! i'd rather do this and find a way to make a living doing freelance work and getting exposure online than working some shit job. No one is gonna hire me to do production work so fuck 'em, i'll do it myself.

Frick and Frack episode 1

This took me 3 days to make but I think it came out awesome. It feels more like a real short film instead of a friends and family slide show. Although I did use stills at the end to tie it together. I guess as long as I use stills it takes away from credibility and keeps it looking amateurish.

But regardless...here we have the world premiere of *drum rolllll* FRICK and FRACK- Episode 1

finally

i was totally blow off course this weekend with the boys here. i just let myself go. but after a week of being disgustingly lazy i'm FINALLY back on track! no more soda, back to water. and i finally worked out today. i feel better. i'm super proud of myself. usually when i get blown off course i feel like "its too late, the damage is done, can't go back now". Its kind of silly how easily things would go downhill. It seems simple enough to get back on track. 1 week isn't gonna derail months of hard work. I guess its all mental really. I feel like this time I have the mental tools to get back on that horse. I love routines. I fall apart without them. I crave boundaries.

Anyway just writing to report I'm back on track and couldn't be happier about it. :)

How did they track me down?

I got a pamphlet from Braddock class of 98. I'm no I will not be paying $105 per person to see a bunch of people I didn't even like in high school. Who actually goes to their reunions?

Did you? Would you?

Working on the webpage

I'm working on my Roodboi Productions webpage. I initially started this blog with the intention of having it be an extension of my webpage. But now i'm thinking I don't want the world to see this blog. This is a sanctuary. Its nice to know that only a couple people read it so I know I'm free to say what I want. After all this work I think I might have to make another blog for the page. With just page related entries. That sounds like a better idea.

I'll post the link to the page when i'm done. I'm thinking, if the page looks good, that I might pay for my own domain. If I want the page to work I have to work hard on it. It's going to be a lot of tedious work. So its gonna be an ongoing project. Knowing me I'll get bored halfway through. lol.

if its not one thing its another

you know..maybe i'm just not meant to be a mom. not in he foreseeable future anyway.

i'm often confused abut my purpose in life. i still haven't found it. i thought having a child would bring new meaning into my life. but i don't think i should have one until i've lined up all the pins. i want to do it right. which means that i may not be able to do it for a long time. i refuse to be one of those people that just has a kid without thinking about the consequences. i'm not at the weight i want to be and i will not give up on that though i may have had a recent set back. we're not financially secure enough to do anything but live in this fucking apartment as far as i can see. we can't afford a house, a car, a baby itself. that coupled with the stress of having a kid will seriously hurt our relationship.

please don't leave me comments on this one. i'm not writing this to get a reaction, i just need a place to express my thoughts.

Shit comes in 3's

1. Friday ed worked from home so I took the car to run some errands. I went to get our $79 bowls from color me mine. (pictures to come...if i ever get to it) Then I went to Sally's (i've been dying to go) to get some fun supplies. Then I went to do groceries. Then on my way home I get to the parking garage of my building and notice, my bag is gone. holy crap i left my bag in the cart!!!! Luckily I live across the street from the grocery store. I raced back but it was too late. The cart wasn't where I left it. I ran inside freaking out. Almost in tears. Everyone at the winn dixie were morons of course. And were absolutely no help at all. I frantically called ed from the store's phone and he came over. Thank God he was working from home that day. He said "i'll call your phone" a thought that at the time never even occurred to me. So he calls it and some lady answers. She says she found the bag and didn't want to turn it in to lost and found because they would probably just steal everything in it. Luckily for me she was still in the store and said she would find me to give me the purse. And she did. And everything was in there. It all happened so fast I wasn't able to give her anything. Ed was gonna give her a $20 but he walked away looking for her right before she found me. So I didn't giver her anything. I didn't even get her name. But thank God for her. Thank God. And thank God ed was there to help me. Because I never would have thought to call the phone and who knows what would have happened.

*wanna know something eerie though? she says she called ed's phone (that day when she talked to ed) but ed's cell had no calls. and when i got my phone back i saw she had made no calls. then ed got to work today and says she called his work phone and left a message. don't you think that if she had checked my phone she would have called "home" which is 2 on my speed dial, or "ed" which is 3 on speed dial? or call the last number i called? but no she called ed's work. and here's the really freaky part. i don't have ed's work number on my cell. ----wait...ed says she probably saw it on his business card. its in my wallet.

2. Sunday, out of nowhere my laptop breaks. I get the grey screen of death. Ed determines its the hard drive. No real explanation. I didn't do anything to it. This has happened to my mom twice. That's just what they do...they break. Why? To get you to buy the newest version. They have no shelf life. Same goes for all apple products. THEY ALL SUCK. Just the same, it was like losing a child. I was completely devastated. I lose everything. Luckily my most important stuff is online. But I didn't lose a lot of pics. Oh well. I can't really remember anything really important that I lost so thats good. In the future I will put anything important online and just not keep alot of stuff on there because it will probably happen again. I probably won't have it back for 4-6 weeks. Luckily we have a desktop. Otherwise I'd be insane right now. damn and i had just figured out how to record on my built in isight. didn't even get the chance to use it.

3. whats the last shit?? what could it be?? how could it get any worse?? well today...at 12...they were not playing Las Vegas!!! they were playing something else!!!! lucky for me its just some stupid Closer marathon. Tomorrow my show will be back on. Let's hope this is the 3rd shit and there's not something sinister lurking around the corner.

LOOK AT MY GORGEOUS NIECE!!!

Isn't she just precious?!! I could just eat her up!

This is Ed's brother Adam's baby. Amani Marie Toro.

How to record using built in isight on mac

Ever since I got my mac i've been really frustrated that there's this great built in camera but i can't record with it. I can take pics, i can chat live, but not record. why would they do that? GRRR!!!

well today i finally found a way to do it!! woohoo! best part is, its super easy. and you should have everything you need on your mac. if its 1 or 2 yrs old you should have a new enough version of quicktime already on your mac. if not, its free to upgrade.

all the info you need is on this page.

Enjoy!!

i think i'm gonna regret this

have you ever eaten something and in the middle of eating it you realize it tasted weird and you know its probably gonna give you diarrhea later but you're hungry so you eat it anyway?

eat now. regret it later.

4th of July

My 4th of July was very modest. Kind of a bust but the food was good.

I made these kick ass turkey burgers. No recipe or anything. I just got 2 lbs of ground turkey and mushed it up with my hands. Then chopped up green pepper, onion, mushrooms very very fine. I kneaded them into the ground turkey. I also chopped up some cilantro and added that as well. Then I sprinkeed plenty of Sazon Completa from BADIA and added Worcestershire sauce and mixed it all in there. Then I formed patties and this is what they looked like pre-grill.

There are no pics of the finished product as we scarfed them down.

We also had corn on the cob and two kinds of potato salad.

Here are some pics from early in the day. We got a late start and it got cloudy just after this and got progressively worse throughout the day/night. Then it was a major lightening show. Between the thunder, lightening, and fireworks it was really scary being outside grilling.

The best part about the whole thing? The burgers! They were a big hit! We took them home and had them for bfast on saturday. and then today ed was like "any turkey burgers left?" haha awesome. best part? they're healthy and stuffed with veggies!!!

Mamoncillos at PUBLIX!!!

Soooo....

I was at the Publix by my parents house on 4th of July. Right off the bat I'm gonna say that this is the best Publix in Miami. The produce never ever disappoints. Its delicious and sweet every time. Unlike Winn Dixie. Also the selection is great, better than some other Publix stores (like the ones here in the gables). Anyway I was shopping for BBQ stuff and low and behold what should I find in the produce section but my wildest dream come true.

You may remember I blogged about Mamoncillos before and my quest to find them on the street.

So you can imagine my glee when I saw them at Publix!!! AHHHHHH!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!! There were mamoncillos-a-plenty! But I'm sure thats the only Publix that has them.

So to anyone who wants mamoncillos go to the Publix in Miller Sqaure (Miller and 137th ave).

You're welcome.

Color Me Mine- Before you go, read this

I went to Color Me Mine in Coconut Grove today. Its one of those places where you go and pick out pottery and paint it and then they put it in a kiln and it comes out all pretty and you can take it home.

First of all, the moron answering the phone couldn't tell me anything about the location other than its behind Sandbar. So I call 411 and she's like its on Main Hgwy. I'm like..."ok Main Highway is a long street. Is there a number?" Nope. Main Hgwy. So we drove around. Fund parking. Walked around in circles for almost 30 min. I went in store after store asking people if they knew where it was till finally someone told me.

We go in there...its a lot lamer than I was expecting. Its quiet. They should have had some music playing. The only employee there was the douche bag I talked to on the phone. Great. Does he help us? No. We pretty much figure it out on our own. We pick our pieces and I'm like..."um ok so we just pic the pieces now what?" and he slinks over and tells us to pick colors. I'm like how many? And he's like "5" well thanks. Its like pulling teeth with this guy. He's not friendly at all. He's some young punk kid with a fucking attitude. Just taking up space to collect his $7 an hour I'm sure. Can you believe they leave this douche running the store?

So whatever we were there for 2 hours painting. They didn't even have paper towels or anything for us to wipe our hands. Ridiculous. Then we go up to pay. Ed did a big fruit bowl and I did a small little bowl for my keys. Total? $79!!!!! $79!!!!

Yeah. His bowl? $25. My bowl? $23. WHAT??? Then they tack on a charge per hour of being there $18. Then tax and then a $10 tip for the shitbag's service. You gotta be fucking kidding me.

Unfuckingbelievable. And after all that we have to come back in 3 days to get our pottery. We couldn't even take it home that day! No no but get this. I'm like umm ok so when its ready you call me? and he says "no you call us" WTF! am i fucking psychic? am i just supposed to keep calling to find out when my little $40 bowl is ready?

Please people, do not waste your money. Don't go to COLOR ME MINE in The Grove. Its a total rip off and just all around bad service.
