Welcome to the babble!

Warning: I talk a lot! About anything and everything. I don't hold back. So buckle up.

in 2010 I got the gastric sleeve and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My new life has finally begun!

Finally in 2012 I got my life's wish of being pregnant. Now this blog has transitioned from random blabber, to weight loss, to being a new mommy.
It's ever changing and ever evolving, just like me.

Mediterranean Dinner

Tonight we went to the grocery store. I picked up some stuff. I had greek the other night and I've been jonzing some greek delights ever since.

So today I tried a mix of italian and greek. This is what I had.

I made aglio e olio. Which is just penne (aldente) tossed in garlic and olive oil. I tossed it in the pan so some of it got nice and crispy. yum yum yumm!!!

Then on the side i had some feta, capers, and a peperoncini with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of oregano. and yeah it doesn't look like much, but let me tell you it was SO GOOD that I went back for seconds of everything!! yum yum yum, Oh and what you see on the pasta is slices of Parmesan cheese. I shaved them off a wedge. :)

Life Update

Well as of now neither of us is working. I left my internship. I felt that it was the right thing for me to do. It wasn't leading toward anything and I have to take the next step. Also the transportation thing is so up in the air since we only have one car and Miami doesn't exactly have good public transportation. If this was boston this wouldn't be an issue at all.

Ed has gone on a few interviews and he's sill got appts to meet other people not to mention networking events he's been going to. So the wheels are in motion. I don't know where we'll be living when the lease is up in July. But I'm doubtful that we'll stay in this apt.

Our sleep number bed comes tomorrow! I've been dying to get a new bed since....mid 2007. our mattress is so worn out. so i'm excited about a sleep number bed. they say it won't sag and its supposed to last 20 yrs. we'll see. i'm sure it will take some getting used to. when i was in the store i kind of felt like i was laying on an air bubble.

I desperately need to start working out and eating better. we've been eating out a lot. i need to get on track so i can stick to my plan of having a baby by 30. its hard though. its like career or health. its hard to worry about both at the same time. its too overwhelming.

Now that I'm not working I need to finish projects that I put off because I didn't have time.

-Finish writing my script
-Work on cartoon bible
-Learn Final Cut pro
-Do some freelance audio work
-Work on my voice over demos
-catalogue videos for mom and dad

i'm such a lazy bastard who knows.

i also need to clean this apt and work out.

I think the time has come.

I need to get Roodboi Productions up and running. But I can't do that if I'm working full time. So we'll see. I'd be interested in doing some freelance audio work. Think we can make it happen? I would rather struggle trying to make a name for myself than work my ass off doing busy uninteresting work for others. Great place to work though. If I was just out of college I'd love it. But I just don't feel like its working for me. It has given me the confidence I need in myself though.

A Valentine's Day I'll never forget pt 3: Drop the Bomb

Friday morning was special because I didn't work and Ed was hungry so i offered to walk down to Mcdonalds and pick up breakfast. We never get to have Mcdonalds breakfast. Its always a treat. So we ate and he was a little late to work so off we went and I dropped him off.

When I got home I got to work. I had been collecting little bits and pieces of things for a week to put together something for Ed. Finally on Friday everything came together nicely and I was able to make this one thing for ed. Not much. I mean, what can he do with it. But its hand made and made with lots of love. And here it is...

I was working on it all day so I didn't take a nap. I was tired. But it was almost time to pick him up so I left to get get my hubby wubby so we could start our Vday celebration. When I got to his work though I checked my phone and saw a voice mail from him. I checked it and he said his boss called him in as he was leaving and he's in a meeting with him so he needs some more time. I put a quarter in the meter and waited. The windows were down, the sun was almost all the way down, there was a beautiful breeze. I felt like I was on vacation. I was soaking up the good part of Miami when I got another call from Ed on my cell. I wondered why he was calling again instead of coming down. I'm guessing the meeting was going longer than expected. But no. He drops this bomb on me. "I was just let go. I need to clean out my office right now."

WHAT?!!?! WHAT!??!!?!?!?! omg omg I started bawling. I totally lost it. My poor poor baby. I told you they were out to get him!! I'm not gonna go into too much detail because God knows they might find this blog and I don't want to cause any problems. But talk to me personally and I'll tell you the details.

I called my mom who's in LA at the moment and just bawled my eyes out. I should mention that after I dropped off Ed this morning, my dad called me from LA to tell me that my uncle Felix (his brother) passed away last night. So the past 48 hours have been an emotional rollercoaster for me. I said "omg what are we gonna do?!" because Ed is the breadwinner. I'm interning right now, not getting paid at all. We're so fucked!!!! My mom said "calm down mama don't cry. Don't worry, it'll be ok. If anything you guys can stay with us. I'll clean out the room and you can stay there. Don't worry. Ed will find something else." It was a real "I want my mommy" moment for me. She was so comforting. And I thank GOD that this happened here in Miami where we have family that we can turn to. I am so grateful for that. You don't even know. My poor baby. He didn't deserve that. He's such a good boy. He's better than me, he's better than all of them. He's such a good kind soul that would never hurt anyone. He's been working hard since college and he doesn't complain. He didn't deserve that shit. I wanted to run in there and defend him. Tell them all off. My heart breaks for him.

Despite the shock, which hit me really really hard, I'm starting to see that this was a blessing in disguise. Ed wasn't happy there. Now he can find something where he'll be happy. And change, though scary, is good. This happened once before, he was laid off of his first job, and I have to tell you, it was exciting. I loved having him home first of all. I loved watching him work his magic. The thrill of the chase as he searches for a new job. I also feel a sense of adventure. Something new is happening, its not the same old hum drum everyday, which is exciting. I also feel like he needs me more in times like this and I like that. I'm gonna step up and do what I have to do. I wanna be the shoulder for him to lean on. His support system. I'm behind him 100%. If he decides we have to move, fine. If we have to sell everything and move in with my parents, fine.

We'll be ok as long as we have each other. Thats all we need. Thats all I can count on in this world. And we're strong. We can make it. This is a true Valentines Day lesson. My husband and I love and support each other and we'll get through this. I'm optimistic about our future. We're not tied down. We can go wherever the road takes us. 2008 will be a year of changes and new adventures. Oh, the places you'll go...

A Valentine's Day I'll never forget pt 2: Abuela's 88th Birthday

Dinner at abuela's house went well. We ate, we sang happy birthday, we ate some more. I think she had a really lovely time. :)

Here's abuela with her brother Benjamin.

A Valentine's Day I'll never forget pt 1: The Flowers that never came

Where do I begin? My Valentine's Day was a bust. Oh it started out well enough. My gifts were a big hit. The girls at work were blown away and one even gave me a hug! Everyone seemed to love the goodies I had out at my desk.

Cookies and Candy

People kept coming by and saying how sweet it was of me and thanking me and taking cookies. I was in a great mood. I was expecting something from ed (some special delivery of flowers or something) since I had been hinting at it for weeks. I kept seeing bouquets of flowers at the front desk and thinking "I don't have an office phone, how will they contact me? I better listen for a page." They page people and its hard to understand what they say. Lunch rolls around and I still have nothing. I'm pretty bumbed. I go to pick up Ed for lunch. Which is a mission in itself because I have to drive from my job to his, pick him up, come back to my job, park, walk to the Cheesecake Factory, eat, come back to the car, drive him back, then drive back to my job. It ended up taking a bit over 2 hours. I guess between that, the stress of worrying that i'm taking 2 hours for a 1 hour lunch, and the fact that I hadn't gotten anything for Vday just didn't make me feel very romantic. It was a pleasant lunch. Ed was trying but I just wasn't being very receptive.

Then the entire rest of the day I kept telling the girl I'm interning for to let me know if she needs me to do anything. I had stayed an hour and a half late he day before because she waited till the last minute to send some stuff out to award shows. The whole day I was like "do you need me to do anything? i wanna get a head start because i can't stay late today" and she says no. She's doing other things and has nothing for me. Meanwhile its almost the end of the day and I never got anything from Ed. I'm assuming at this point that he didn't get me anything. Possibly because we decided to do VDAY cards on Friday. I was sad. Finally Ed ims me and says "did you get a special delivery today?" and I said no. He tells me that he sent me something and according to tracking it arrived at 11:30 am and was signed for by the mail guy "rick". Oh! ok! Let me go check with Rick. I check with Rick and he says he needs a tracking number. So I have to go back upstairs (I already wasn't feeling well) to get that. I come back down and he says he doesn't have that tracking number, he never got that package. I said well it says you signed for it. He says well its not here. I looked around and didn't see it. He says it might have been scanned but mistakingly stayed with the driver or was delivered to another place. This is when I start to break down. Its been a rough week and this day just keeps getting worse. I started crying. I couldn't hold back the tears. Here I go out of my way to make everyone else feel special and then I get screwed.

I called UPS. Don't get me started on how hard it was to actually speak to a real representative. They said they would contact the driver and get back to me. Meanwhile the girl I work for tells me at 5:30pm (i leave at 6pm) that we have to start shipping something out for an award show. Mind you, this takes a couple of hours. I like her, I do. But this was just the last straw for me. Because I told her all day to put me on something. I was starting to lose it, big time. Luckily around 6:15 I said I have to go soon though. She looked at the time and said "oh shit its 6:15, go ahead and leave." Which I am very thankful for. And frankly I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

I picked up Ed, we got food from Sergios (Bistec Empanizado, Arroz cone frijoles, y maduros) flowers, a cake, and some candles and went to my grandmother's house. It was her birthday and we decided to spend the evening with her and celebrate Valentines Day on Friday. While on the road UPS called and said that the driver said he remembered Rick signing for it and he doesn't have it on his truck. Then they basically said "oh well, its not us, we don't have it. Sucks to be you." So fine. I just let it go. Forget it. Its gone. Let's just go to Abuela's house.
